Why08.org is a conversation community dedicated to Election 2008. To have a voice, you don't need to be a media mogul, a talking head, or even a blogger. There's an audience waiting for you at Why08.org

Is Why08.org a non-profit?

No, but we're not trying too hard to make a profit either. Money is good, a great website is better. If we can do both, we will. If not, we'll choose the latter.

Explain the name?

Why08 does a good job capturing our purpose: getting people to tell others how why they feel a certain way about political issues.

Is this site partisan?

We're pro-conversation, that's all. We welcome Democrats, Republicans, and everyone in between (or beyond). In short, we're big tent people.

Is this site really serious?

Yes and no. We think the presence of political conversation on the web is serious. But all political conversation need not be serious to be substantive. So at Why08, we expect youÕll find a healthy mix of the serious, the light, and the in-between.

Where did this idea come from?

All of us at Why08 are political junkies and we've always wanted a better way to talk politics with friends and others on the web. Message boards are fine but they could be so much better with social networking, community voting, and more. We always assumed somebody would build a site for us. No one did and we got tired of waiting.
